What do you do with an injured worker?

Early intervention is key in reducing the overall cost and length of treatment. Most musculoskeletal injuries can be effectively managed with Physical Therapy if the problem is addressed in a timely manner. Personal Care Physical Therapy offers different models of injury treatment.

We can help you be pro-active when it comes to workers injuries by setting up clear processes to prevent injury, helping you evaluate your workplaces and teach employees, and modify duties so that your workers are much safer.Traditional: An injured worker is sent to a physician for examination of an injury. Commonly that worker is referred to Personal Care Physical Therapy for treatment. Treatment will always include patient education on proper body mechanics and joint protection techniques. Other treatment options include modalities for pain relief, manual therapy, and instruction with an appropriate exercise program to stretch or strengthen the affected area.

Pro-Active: Some local employers have been able to significantly reduce their costs by sending workers with musculoskeletal injuries directly to our physical Therapists. We are able to consult with the worker at the worksite or schedule an appointment at our clinic within 1-2 business days to evaluate what therapy will most efficiently resolve the worker's symptoms. Depending on the type of intervention needed, some of these sessions can be considered a "consult" and do not become OSHA reportable injuries. Our physical Therapists are experienced in advising employers/employees on appropriate changes in work status and our treatment focuses on returning the worker to their regular job tasks quickly and safely. This program has been very successful in reducing claims and costs.

Quick evaluation and treatment lead to faster recovery, less lost work time, improved employee attitude, and decreased costs.

Modified Duty Programs – Why do you need one?

Research has repeatedly shown that costs increase significantly the longer an employee is off work. An employee who cannot perform their usual job may be able to perform other tasks, thus contributing to the company's productivity and maintaining an attitude of an "able" worker. We at Personal Care Physical Therapy have assisted local employers with developing modified duty programs. The goal is to offer job tasks that will keep an employee part of the work environment while allowing them to heal from their injury.
